Public Consultation Now Open - Tasmanian Disaster Resilience Strategy
The Tasmanian Government has opened public consultation (until 6 November 2025) on the development of the next Tasmanian Disaster Resilience Strategy. The consultation seeks community feedback on the strategy's vision and guiding principles for building disaster resilience across our state.
Our Involvement and Support
Huon Valley Council's Emergency Management and Climate Change units have actively participated in the development of these guiding principles through providing a formal submission and attending regional workshops held earlier this year. This strategy represents a critical priority for Council in ensuring our community's future resilience and preparedness.
What is disaster resilience?
Disaster resilience is about our ability to ‘bounce back’ from disasters and emergencies. It includes how we prevent, live through and recover from the harmful impacts of natural hazards on people, places and the natural environment.
More formally, disaster resilience is the ability to anticipate and resist the effects of a disruptive event, minimise adverse impacts, respond safely and effectively, maintain or recover functionality, and adapt in a way that allows for learning and thriving.
How to Have Your Say
We invite you to share your views on disaster resilience, with consultation open from 25 September 2025 and closing on 6 November 2025.
