Local Connections: A message from the Ranelagh Hall and Community Group

3 February 2026

Thanks to all the volunteers, local community groups and community members who came along to the Ranelagh Green on Sunday. We look forward to building a strong community in Ranelagh with you all!

The weather gods were against us on Sunday, 1 February!

Our hardy volunteer group struggled against squalls to erect a marquee on Ranelagh Green, but by 4pm the sun was out, and we had a good hour and a bit of fine and occasionally sunny weather to enjoy a sausage sizzle, a display of line dancing, hopscotch, quoits and a jellybean guessing competition.

Thanks to all who came out to celebrate some community spirit with us!

As promised, the jelly bean official results are: Big Jar 467 (won by Becky with a guess of 501), and Small Jar 172 (won by Anton with a guess of 180).

It was great to have members of the Mosquito Point Landcare with us, as well as locals Sarah and Dan, who were getting lots of support for their idea of a community garden.

We enjoyed having conversations with locals about Ranelagh, and heard some great suggestions for building a strong community in Ranelagh. These suggestions will go ‘into the mix’ to think about as we set an agenda for 2026.
