Online gambling and its impact on young people - Free Community Event

14 April 2026

Anglicare Tasmania invites the community to take part in an honest conversation about how online gambling harms young people, how quickly it can escalate, and ways we can help to minimise the risks. The conversation will be hosted by radio presenter Tubes (Andy Taylor) and features Mark Kempster - a Tasmanian lived experience advocate who lost $100,000 to gambling in his twenties and almost lost his family along with it. It all started when he was 15 - a sport-obsessed teenager who saw betting at normal. Mark will unpack how online gambling took hold, how it changed him, and what helped him turn things around. This discussion is designed to: - Build awareness - Strengthen understanding and - Spark meaningful conversations within families and communities We hope to see you there.

There at two different events being held on the day. The first runs from 1.30–3.30pm and is for industry only. The second event is being held in the evening from 6-8.30pm and is open to the general community.
