Welcome to the May Huon Valley Service Providers Network E‑News. As we settle into the cooler mid-autumn days across the valley, it's a wonderful time to stay connected, share what's happening in your service, and continue building the strong local networks that support community wellbeing.
For those of you who joined us at The Cannery last week for the May Service Providers meeting, thank you for coming along and sharing the work you and your organisations are doing in our local community. A special thank you to SETAC for hosting, it was such an honour and a privilege to be welcomed into their beautiful space, and to hear about the incredible and meaningful work they do with and for community.

Upcoming Accidental Counsellor workshop being held in Cygnet on Wednesday 24th June, 12.30-4.30pm.
Accidental Counsellor is aimed at those who would like to be able to safely and effectively support friends, family, work colleagues and strangers who are in distress or experiencing a crisis.

In regional areas, men often experience loneliness and lack access to support systems that are common in more populated areas of our country. Isolation is a key factor in men experiencing mental health issues which commonly leads to anxiety, depression and dependance on drugs and alcohol.

CORES Providing an Inclusive Practice and Community for LGBTIQA+ People This training aims to provide service providers, interested professionals and community members, who would like to deepen their understanding and confidence in working with and/or supporting LGBTIQA+ people, with LGBTIQA+ specific information and strategies for inclusion.

National Volunteer Week (18-24 May 2026) free webinar program
The Department of Premier and Cabinet, in collaboration with Volunteering Tasmania, has released a free webinar program celebrating National Volunteer Week.
The program includes nine sessions covering a range of practical and relevant topics. All sessions are free and open now for anyone to register.
What’s Working? The Inaugural Men’s Health Forum will highlight the programs and services that are reaching men and helping to improve wellbeing for men and boys in Tasmania. Join us for a one-day forum to hear positive stories, contribute your perspectives and experiences, and explore how we can apply fresh thinking to our own programs and services.
