Welcome everyone to the June Huon Valley Service Providers Network E‑News. As we head into the heart of winter across the valley, we hope you're staying warm and dry!
It's a great time to stay connected, share what's happening in your service, and continue nurturing the local networks that support community wellbeing. We would like to acknowledge that the recently handed-down 2026/27 Tasmanian Budget brings with it some real challenges for many of you working in community and health services.

Upcoming Accidental Counsellor workshop being held in Cygnet on Wednesday 24th June, 12.30-4.30pm.
Accidental Counsellor is aimed at those who would like to be able to safely and effectively support friends, family, work colleagues and strangers who are in distress or experiencing a crisis.
Get in now, there are a few spots left.

The Tasmanian Government is undertaking a Neighbourhood House Needs Analysis to enable a better understanding of the demands on Houses and to identify the long-term sustainability needs of the network.
How to participate: Follow the link to the community survey. The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete and closes on 15 June 2026.

Things you can do for better Mental Health.
A fantastic assessment tool to promote your mental health and wellbeing through the colder and darker days.
Life can feel overwhelming and stressful. That’s why we need to look after our mental health, every day. But what does this even look like?
At MindSpot, our research team has pinpointed five proven activities that lead to better mental health and is our mission to share this so that together, we can feel mentally healthier and more resilient.
Mindfulness Programs Australasia
Courses available include
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction: Develop skills in identifying early signs of stress.
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy: A targeted focus on depression, and prevention of further episodes.
Mind Your Self: Build emotional literacy for Tasmanian adults who may be experiencing stress.

Renovate your Relationship (for Men) - Communication, Conflict and Self-Care is a 2-hour online workshop facilitated by Relationships Australia Tasmania, designed for men who want to improve and maintain healthy relationships.
On next Tuesday 16th June 4.30pm-6.30pm.
Just like a home, your relationship requires regular maintenance to stay strong. This workshop helps you address challenges early and take proactive steps before issues arise.
Dads Raising Boys is a free, 2.5-hour online workshop for dads, fathers, and father figures of boys of all ages.
Tuesday 21st July 4pm-6.30pm.
This practical and supportive session helps strengthen the father-son relationship and explores ways to support boys as they grow and develop into young men.
Dads Raising Girls is a free, 2.5-hour online workshop for dads, stepdads, and father figures with daughters aged 2 to 15 years.
Tuesday 28th July, 4pm-6.30pm.
This engaging and practical session helps strengthen the father–daughter bond and offers tools to support girls' growth, confidence, and wellbeing.
Primary Health Tasmania would like to invite primary care non-clinical practice staff (clinic receptionists and practice managers), support workers, and allied health professionals who don’t specialise in mental health care to join us for a fully funded LivingWorks SafeTALK workshop delivered by Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania.

The role of allied health in improving patient experience.
Join us for a webinar discussing multidisciplinary management of persistent pain. Allied health professionals play a key role in pain management, improving the patient experience, and supporting effective referral pathways. The aim of this webinar is to strengthen knowledge of multidisciplinary approaches to pain management and improve confidence in referral decision-making.

The Grow Program is a mental health support program based on lived experience. This means Grow groups are a meeting of peers, who are striving to develop and maintain good mental health.
Local Groups located in Goodwood and Rosny and now there is an Online eGrow Group Tuesday afternoons.
Join a Welcome to Grow Orientation session to learn more about the groups.
A new Aboriginal-led organisation has launched in lutruwita/Tasmania to support Aboriginal people impacted by family, domestic and sexual violence.
The Tasmanian Aboriginal Family Safety Service is led by Palawa woman Rachel Dunn, a long-time advocate and practitioner in the family violence sector.
We walk alongside community at court, in crisis, and through recovery offering advocacy, safety planning, referrals and practical
support.
Do you know or work with any expecting or recent Fathers?
Fathers, Dads-to-be, Families & Health Professionals. Receive free text messages, support, info & tips – especially for dads & dads-to-be.
SMS4dads helps fathers understand and connect with their baby and partner. It also checks in on their wellbeing and offers professional support if needed.
SMS4dads is FREE. It provides info related to the age and stage of your baby.
Researchers at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research are exploring whether Tasmania’s free bus and ferry fares initiative has encouraged more people to use public transport and become more physically active, helping reduce the risk of chronic conditions.
If you’ve used public transport during the free fares period, you can support this important Tasmanian research by completing a quick 10-minute survey before 31 July, with the option to enter a draw to win one of five $100 gift cards.
