Background

The new Cygnet Ambulance Station is one of four new rural ambulance stations announced in 2024 to be built around Tasmania, part of the Tasmanian Government’s plan to bolster Ambulance Tasmania’s services.

The new station will provide contemporary ambulance facilities for both paramedics and volunteers to operate from, at a completely new location in Cygnet. The new station will bring ambulance services much closer to home for all residents south of the closest existing station at Huonville.

Along with another new station planned at Snug, these new services will reduce response times for all patients in communities around the Huon and Channel areas.

Location

The new Cygnet Ambulance Station will be built on newly acquired land, at 48 - 52 Mary Street, Cygnet. This site has the advantage of direct access onto Mary Street and the Channel Highway, connecting to residents throughout Cygnet and communities to the north and south.
